 BEAT THE BOAT ENTRY T&C's

Please accept this entry for the Beat The Boat 10K. I will be at least 16 years of age on race day and I confirm that I am medically fit to compete. I also declare that I have no medical disabilities that will endanger me or others participating in the event. I accept that I enter at my own risk and that the organisers and sponsors will in no way be held responsible for any personal injury, or loss or damage to property before, during or after the event. I understand and accept that the organisers reserve the right to cancel the race if adverse weather should make conditions too dangerous for competitors, or a serious incident occurs that prevents the race going ahead. In this event, there will be NO REFUNDS. I also accept that if I am entering this race on behalf of another person, I am authorised by them to accept these Terms and Conditions on their behalf. I will also take the responsibility to ensure that they are aware of any further information provided about this race e.g. confirmation and race information emails. I also confirm that if I am under 18 years of age on race day, I have the permission of my parent or guardian to take part in this race and I have included their contact details below.

RACE NUMBERS:

To be collected on the day from the Race HQ (The Watermans Arms Pub in Eton). Please allow plenty of time for this as the race start could be 5-15 mins walk from the various car parks in Windsor and Eton.  Your Race Number should be pinned to the front of your shirt using four pins (one in each corner) and must not be cut, folded or defaced in any way. Please do not cover your number with another layer of clothing or wear it on a layer that may be discarded during the race.  FAILURE TO DISPLAY YOUR RACE NUMBER AT THE FINISH MAY PREVENT US FROM RECORDING YOUR FINISH PLACE AND TIME.

TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHER RUNNERS AROUND YOU, WE ALSO POLITELY BUT FIRMLY REQUEST THAT YOU DO NOT WEAR HEADPHONES IN THIS EVENT. THIS INCLUDES ALL TYPES OF HEADPHONES INCLUDING ANY BONE CONDUCTING MODELS.

Runners are NOT permitted to transfer their running number to another individual without notifying the race organisers of the change (Free transfers are permitted before June 29th 2024 only). Transfers of any kind are NOT permitted after this date. People running under other people's numbers (or those giving numbers away) will be disqualified from the race, any further events and reported to UK Athletics.

SPECTATOR BOAT TICKETS/PASSENGERS:

Spectators are to assemble at the boat embarkation point on the Windsor side of the river Thames ready to embark before 9.30am. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOATS WILL EMBARK FROM THE WINDSOR SIDE OF THE THAMES, OPPOSITE BROWNS BAR AND BRASSERIE ON WINDSOR PROMENADE BARRY AVENUE, WINDSOR. THIS IS A 5-10 MIN WALK FROM RACE HQ and the runners start. Further detail will be sent out nearer the time and displayed on our website.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS:

Please specify any medical conditions on the reverse of your number and state contact telephone numbers for use in the event of an emergency. If you are unwell or injured on the day please do not run.  If you are unable to run on the day please note that numbers are not transferable on the day.

SECURE BAGGAGE:

A secure area will be available for baggage. Please write your race number on one of the labels provided at baggage and attach the label to your bag before handing it in. Baggage is left at owner'
s risk and we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to any item. Runners will only be allowed to reclaim their baggage on production of their race number. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE AMPLE WARM CLOTHING TO WEAR AFTER YOUR RACE.

REFRESHMENTS:

There will be water stations out on the course, with water also available at the finish.

TOILETS:

Portaloos will be available in the race village. There are no separate changing facilities.

THE COURSE:

The course is a flat 10km of mixed terrain and is not suitable for spikes. The course predominantly follows the Thames path but there are a few sections that border fields which can become muddy after persistent rain. Please be aware that some sections of the course are narrow in places.

TIMING:

Please ensure that you stay in your finishing order as soon as you cross the finish line and as you make your way along the finish funnels. This is very important for accurate timing and placing of category winners.

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING:

The course starts from the Brocas field on the Eton side of the Thames. However as parking is very limited in Eton we suggest people park in the many public car parks situated in Windsor and make the walk over the Eton Bridge. In the past we have used the car park at Home park at the very bottom of Romney Lock road. However please note that this has recently changed to a pay and display car park so we would suggest using the Windsor and Eton Riverside pay and display car park (£3.50 all day on Sundays) situated directly behind the train station (SL4 1NA). Please allow yourself plenty of time to make your way to the race HQ and the start.

COURSE SAFETY:

There will be marshals at all significant points around the course ? please observe their instructions and directions. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies. If you drop out during the race, please report to a marshal. The course is open to the public and parts run along the River Thames, please be respectful of the public and be careful when near the rivers edge. The mimimum age for entry is 16 on the day.

RACE DISCIPLINE:

If you need to stop or walk for any reason, please move to the side of the path, so as not to impede other runners. Instructions issued by the Race Marshals, who will be wearing fluorescent yellow bibs, MUST be obeyed at all times. They will advise you of any hazards.  Any runner not complying with these rules is liable to be disqualified. The Race Referee's decision is final at all times. This advice is for your own safety and that of other runners.

DRINK STATIONS:

Water will be available on the course and also at the end of the race. PLEASE DO NOT THROW YOUR CUPS AND ANY OTHER RUBBISH INTO THE BUSHES. We will once again be using compostable cups and bin bags at our two on course drink stations.

FIRST AID AND MEDICAL CARE:

First aid care will be provided at the race village. Should you feel unwell or want to retire at any point on the course, please report to the nearest marshal or official who will be able to contact the medical staff and make arrangements to bring you back to the start/finish area. If you are unwell or injured on the day please do not run.

THE START:

Main race Competitors will be asked to assemble in the start area from 9:30am onwards.

START:

9.45am PROMPT.

FINISH:

Once you have crossed the finish line please continue through the funnel in finish order so that you can be correctly recorded. Mementos, goody bags and drinks can be collected at the end of the funnel. Please note that when runners enter the final field the course follows a lap of the field so you will need to be infront of the boat at this point if you want to beat it!

MEMENTOS:

All finishers will receive a specially designed medal and Technical T-shirt. This T-shirt needs to be picked up on race day with your race number. We cannot post any uncollected T-shirts out either before or after the race.

RESULTS:

Full results will be available as soon as possible after the event at www.beattheboat.com (please note that this could take up to 48 hours.)
